The world’s first Hydrogen fuelled
vehicle named HyAlpha displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo at New Delhi.
HyAlpha is a 3 wheeler with a mileage of 80 Km
per 1 Kg of Hydrogen. 1 Kg of Hydrogen costs around ` 250.
This vehicle is developed under a project, DelHy-3W of the United Nations
Industrial Development Organization (UNI-DO)’s International Centre for Hydrogen
Energy Technologies ( UNIDO-ICHELT) in
association with Mahindra & Mahindra and IIT- Delhi, besides being
supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The project took
three years to get the result.The approximate production cost per vehicle is around ` 2 lakh. The company displayed 15 vehicles and using on experimental basis.
At present the pollution from the automobiles is very high. So the importance of a zero emission vehicle more.Even though the vehicle need a number of tests and modifications before its commercial production, it extend the scope of the generation of zero emission vehicles.
